# Connect an M3U playlist

M3U is the most widely supported IPTV format — a playlist URL you get from your provider that lists channels and on-demand content.

## Add the playlist

1. Go to **Settings → Sources** and choose **M3U** under IPTV.
2. Give the source a name (it defaults to "IPTV").
3. Paste your playlist address into **M3U URL**.
4. Tap **Add**. Dion validates the URL and syncs your channels and library.

**Tip**

If your M3U URL actually contains Xtream Codes credentials (a `get.php?username=…&password=…` link), Dion detects this automatically and switches the form to Xtream for you — you'll see "Xtream credentials detected from your URL". Xtream gives you richer categories, series data, and an automatic EPG, so let it switch.

## Program guide data

M3U playlists don't carry program data themselves. Dion fills the guide by matching your channels against its EPG service automatically. If some channels stay empty or your provider gave you a separate XMLTV URL, add it as a custom EPG source — see [add or fix EPG sources](/support/live-tv/add-or-fix-epg-sources).

## Change the URL later

Providers sometimes rotate playlist URLs. Open **Settings → Sources**, tap the source, then **Edit Details** to update the name or URL without losing your favorites and watch history.
