Add your first source

Updated

Dion plays content from sources — your IPTV provider, media server, or file storage. Everything you add feeds the same library, player, and watch history.

Source types

  • IPTV — M3U playlists and Xtream Codes accounts. These are the only source types with live TV and a program guide.
  • Media Centers — Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby servers, for your movies and shows.
  • Other — Manifest add-on URLs.
  • File Storage — SMB and WebDAV shares, for media files on a NAS or computer.

Add a source

  1. Open Settings → Sources.
  2. Pick a source type from the list. Dion also scans your local network and shows compatible servers it finds under Available on Your Network.
  3. Fill in the details for that source type — see the step-by-step guides for M3U, Xtream, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, and SMB or WebDAV.
  4. Dion validates the connection and syncs your content. Live channels appear in the Live tab, and movies and shows appear in the Library tab.

You can also add sources from the Live and Library tabs, or during onboarding when you first open the app.

Protecting your connection details

Connection details are protected on your device. If you use Dion Pro backup, configurations for supported sources can be restored as part of your end-to-end encrypted backup; Dion cannot read the backup contents. Some services, including Plex, may still ask you to sign in again. See how sync and backup work.
