Connect Emby

Updated

Connect Emby to browse its movies, shows, libraries, artwork, watch progress, and external subtitles alongside your other Dion sources.

Add your server

  1. Open Settings → Sources and choose Emby under Media Centers.
  2. Enter a name for the source and the Server URL. Local addresses such as http://192.168.1.50:8096 and public HTTPS addresses both work.
  3. Enter the username and password you use in Emby's web interface, then choose Add or Sign In.
  4. Dion verifies the server, signs in, and loads the libraries available to that user.

Dion can also show compatible servers discovered on your local network. If discovery finds nothing, enter the server address manually and check that Dion has Local Network permission.

Use more than one address

If the same server has a local address at home and a public address when you are away, open it under Settings → Sources and choose Manage URLs. Add both addresses and mark the one you normally prefer; Dion can use the reachable connection.

Choose streaming quality

Open Settings → Player → Default Streaming Quality to choose the usual quality for Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby. A lower quality lets Emby transcode to a smaller stream when bandwidth is limited. The player's quality menu can override this temporarily for the current playback.

Libraries and artwork

Use Manage Content on the source to hide individual Emby libraries. To rename a library destination or give it custom still or animated artwork, see customize Home and Library.

If it does not connect

  • Make sure the URL includes the correct scheme (http:// or https://) and port.
  • Confirm the same username and password work in Emby's web interface.
  • For a local address, keep the device on the same network as the server.
  • For a public address, verify remote access and its TLS certificate outside Dion.

See source won't connect for more checks.
